Summer Sign

This week I've been needing wanting some sort of Summery decoration for my house.

Something simple.

Something cheap.
(a.k.a. - using only supplies I already had.)

First I went to my computer, typed out "Summer", blew the font up to 400, and pushed print.
(I also used a different font for each letter.)

Then I gathered a piece of scrap wood from my garage, some scissors, scrapbook paper, mod podge and sponge brush, left over white paint, sand paper, some dark stain, an old rag, and a q-tip...

and got to work...

After painting my board and cutting out my letters, I cut squares/rectangles out of scrapbook paper to lay behind each letter.
I mod podged each letter to it's designated paper and then mod podged the paper to my board.
(Piece of cake!)

After all my mod podging dried, I sanded all of the edges around my board and stained the wood, that now showed through, using some dark stain and a q-tip.

I lightly rubbed off any excess stain with an old rag.

Now I have a new super simple Summery decoration for the new season that I really needed wanted!

Love it. And love the fact you made it with stuff you already had. :) Even better!

Stopping over from Frugal Friday.
