I had a few inquiries about my sons baseball headboard after I shared some before and after pictures of his new dresser.
Since the headboard was something I made before I started this blog, I don't have any tutorial pictures on how I made it so I'll just have to tell you.
{Yeah, I know the red stitching isn't perfect. But it took forever to do so I decided to just leave it and call it a baseball with "character". lol.}
My son LOVES baseball so I wanted to do a lightly themed baseball room for him.
I found my inspiration for his headboard in this Potterybarn Kids magazine and went from there.
We had a large piece of backer board left over after putting up some molding throughout our living room and I had my husband cut a large circle out of it.
I spray painted the entire circle white using 3 cans of one dollar Walmart spray paint.
Then looking at the magazine photo for inspiration, I traced the red laces of the baseball.
I used a small paint brush from my kids' crayola paint set to paint the laces.
{Shh...don't tell.}
The red I used was Santa Red {pictured above}.
A few days couple of months later I finally got around to spray painting the whole thing with a clear gloss coat for durability.
Then I spray painted the tops of two screws white and screwed the headboard into the wall right above his bed.
My husband used some other leftover/damaged backer board to make this cute sign. Because the board was damaged, it gives it kind of a weathered look.
The art display below it came from a piece of old molding hanging around in my sons closet when we moved into our house a year ago.
{Never throw out wood! You never know when you might be able to use it!}
I spray painted the piece of molding the same navy blue as his curtains and added the clips to display his art/preschool projects.
I LOVE looking at magazines for inspiration and then doing the best I can to use leftover materials or whatever to obtain the look I'm going for.
