I Thought I Had To Do It All

Are you ever elbow deep in dirty dishes and laundry?
Do you have little ones that sometimes go days without taking a bath?
Do you ever make an entire dinner from scratch, but then leave the dirty dishes till the next morning because you're too tired to do them that night?
Do you ever go over to a friend or a sister's house and think how come they seem to have it all together and their house is so clean and their family is so perfect and mine is not?
Do you ever feel guilty for not spending as much quality time with your kids or your husband as you should? {or at least not as much as you would like to?}
Do your children or your husband ever ask you where something is and you know it's somewhere in the house because you just saw it the other day, but you can't find it because you're not organized enough? {And you tell yourself you will be more organized by tomorrow?}
Do you ever feel like you need to exercise more, eat better, pray more, read your scriptures more often, keep a cleaner house, kiss your husband more, read more bedtime stories to your children, hug them more, not yell at the dogs so much to stop barking {after all they are dogs}, be a better friend, keep a prettier house, spend more time keeping in touch with far away relatives, etc., etc. and you think you just don't have time to do it all?
I do.

After I made the announcement here that I was not going to blog over here anymore, that I was only going to blog on my family blog, {because it's much easier to just snap a picture of the kids, transfer it to the computer, write a caption under it and click "publish post"}, I felt like I had just lost a part of myself.  It was weird.  I thought I was going to feel more relieved, but instead I felt quite the opposite.

My husband was shocked that I had decided to stop blogging here.  He's been telling me forever, not to post so often.  Just do it when you have the time and have a fun project you want to share, he would say over and over to me.  And he's right.  He's been trying to let me know that it's okay to have balance in all things.  But I tend to be an all or nothing kind of girl.  I took the attitude of, "If I can't do it as well as I would like to, I won't do it at all."  That's a terrible attitude to have.   As I write this I feel completely dumb.  I know I need this creative outlet.  It's part of me and it's part of what makes me a happy mom, wife, and woman.  Creating a nice home and making things for my family is what makes me tick!  I love it and even though I don't have time to "do it all" or "be everything", I shouldn't stop doing it.  I like having my space here to share all the different things I'm working on.  So not only am I going to keep this blog open, but I'm going to continue posting here.  I'm going to FINALLY take my husband's advice {are you reading this honey?  cause yes, you're right again.  Why are you always right??? HA!}.
It's not going to be easy for me, but I'm going to take a little more time working on projects and just post a little less often.  And I'm going to tell myself that that's okay.
I don't have to do it all.
At least I don't have to do it all today.

Yay! I was totally caught off guard yesterday with your announcement and it actually stuck with me. Happy to hear that you had a change of thought/approach instead. Do what works for you and let it be an outlet not a burden.

Whoo Hoo! I am so glad you are going to keep blogging! You know, I think how you feel is possibly how a lot of bloggers feel right now! Just post whenever it works. I think many bloggers feel like they are in a deep commitment and that everyone is counting on them. Really, we just enjoy hearing from you whenever it is convenient. We totally understand...life is busy, but I think blogging is a great outlet and you have so much to offer! You do have a wonderful gift and you are using it to really inspire others:). I am so glad you are keeping your blog...I would miss your great ideas.

Good news!! Glad you're going to keep at it. It's definitely important to find a balance. I used to feel so pressured to post every single day during the week, but now? Not so much! Do it when you can, and we'll be happy to read!

Yaay for you! I feel this way all the time. I've almost quit due to a non working properly computer that I can barley use currently, but I plug away when I can. And I'm ok with that! It doesn't mean that my list of blogs I can't wait write isn't growing, because it certainly is =) I'll get to it, when I get to it!!
