Simple Calendar Display

A few nights ago, while my husband was busy as a bee working to keep the city streets free of crime, I was busy crafting.
{I think I totally get the better end of the deal, but he would probably disagree.
He LOVES his job!}

Anyway, while I was trying to stay busy that night {so I wouldn't miss him so much}, I whipped up this lovely little calendar display.

See the thing is, I love to shop.
I  love finding steller deals on clothes and things for my home.
But I'm super duper cheap when it comes to buying calendars.
Sometimes I'll buy a cheap one dollar calendar from Micheal's, but for the last year or two I haven't even done that.
Instead I've printed my calendar off of this site.

In the past, I usually just taped my calendar to the inside of one of my kitchen cupboards.
Simple. Practical. But not very attractive.
Oh-well.  No one saw it but me anyway.
For goodness sakes it's just a calendar.

And then I remembered that I had a pile of these fabric covered cork board framed things just sitting in my daughters room.

My kind next door neighbor is the manager of a very popular woman's undergarment store at the mall {you can probably guess which store I'm referring to}.

These framed fabric things were used in the store's display windows and after they took them down {instead of throwing them away}, my neighbor thought I could do something crafty with them...and that's how I ended up with them.

So I pulled the fabric covered cork board apart from it's white frame and recovered it in burlap.

This is my first time using burlap and I love it!
It has great texture and it's really inexpensive!

After I recovered it, I made three flowers with some left over linen fabric I already had around the house and hot glued them to the board.

Then I tacked the rest of my 2010 calendar to the board with a single push pin.
The surprise ending here is that I hung it up in the inside of one of my upper cabinets using ...HOT GLUE!

It totally works great AND if I ever want to remove my calendar, all I have to do is pull it off!
I tested it and the glue didn't even leave a mark!
{...not that I would care because my cupboards are old and I would just touch them up with a little white paint if it did leave a mark.}

Now I smile every time I open up this cupboard!
I love it!

The best part about this project is that in 2011 I'll just print off another 12 months worth of calendar pages from this site and I'll be able to use this cute little calendar display again!!!
