Make Your Home a Haven From the World - Day 8

(via)

If you want something to last forever, you take care of it.  That includes your marriage.  Your home can be a haven from the world as you continue to date your spouse.  It's kind of one of those, "If you give a mouse a cookie" scenarios...

If you regularly date your spouse, your relationship and your marriage can blossom.  If your marriage blossoms, your children can find security in knowing their parents are happy and love each other.  If your children feel secure because of their parent's relationship and the parents are happy because they have a strong happy marriage, then it makes your home feel like a haven.  It feels like a safe secure place where people love each other and value their relationships with each other.  As time permits, you can also increase your bond with your children by taking them out on special dates.

Dating doesn't have to be anything extravagant.  Sometimes my husband and I go out to dinner and have long conversations about the future.  Other times we go to home depot and dream about house projects we'd like to do, or just go for a moonlit walk around our neighborhood.  When we take our kids out, it's usually just out for a McDonald's ice cream cone or throwing a ball around at the park.  I think the key is just to be consistent.  Make the loved ones in your life a priority and take care of the relationships you hold dear to your heart.  After all, not to sound too cheesy, because it's true... home is where the heart is.

*This is a 31 days series:  Make Your Home a Haven From the World .  I will be writing on this topic every day for the month of October.  Click on the link on the sidebar to read the previous day(s) posts.

Please don't stop writing! I love your series! This is exactly what I am looking for in life right now. I love decorating my home, but my main concern is taking care of all the precious people in it. Thanks for your suggestions!
